BumperSticker-Tigerblade.net

At first I was reading some stuff from the blogroll on Dan's site, when I came across TigerBlade.net. I've visited his blog a couple times before, and mosts of what he posts about is actually pretty interesting. For example, I came across This Entry and it took me a while to understand what he meant (as the comment suggests). The following is a quote from his blog, along with a the picture he had posted--

Quote- "I saw this bumper sticker on my way home from work today... I did a double-take, as I thought there's no way someone would so blatantly advertise their addiction to a social networking site. But, upon looking closer, I saw that it was something quite different indeed. Note the characteristic blue globe of NASA to the left. Still... made me go "huh?" for a second."

So yeah, I know what he meant by a double take... it took me a bit to figure out what he was saying. I just kept thinking, 'Wtf is he talking about anyways? Why is that Nasa logo there?' Afterwards I realized 'My' and 'Space' were probably two different words.

Backwards stuff in WLM

Alright, here's how to turn stuff backwards in Windows Live Messenger. It works in all versions (including the latest 8.5 Beta), although if your friend's the one using 8.5, the backwards e-mail won't show up. Dang.
First off, let me thank Elise for actually taking the screen shot, seeing how everyone else was either too lazy or simply didn't want to. It's not the best quality per say, since she must have a low-resolution monitor, but still. I thank her for taking it for this blog entry.
Anyways, I somehow doubt you care who took the screen shot, so I guess I'll just go about how to do this, what exactly it does, and other ways it can be used. As you can probably tell, in my personal message it states- "It's the -- TOASTER SUCKER! -- BROODROOSTERZUIGER
< moc.liamtoh@poh-sgorf >" That my friend, would be my e-mail address backwards. Below that, there's the little white bar saying I'm away or something. However, in my case it says- "I'm Mc. Haxinlaggins and.ylper ton yam dna ysuB is I" I'm not sure why the 'I' got stuck there at the end, but that's not really the point. How this works is you copy a single Unicode character (document to download at the end of the entry) into your personal message, name, or your message you're typing to a friend. Everything from that point on will become sdrawkcab. This is why my e-mail's backwards in my personal message. I added it to the end of BROODROOSTERZUIGER (Before you ask, it means Toaster Sucker in Dutch. Before you ask why, don't).
.meth etorw uoy tahw gnidaer deirt yeht esuaceb uoy derongi yeht tou dnif uoy retfa retteb neve s'ti tub ,meht ot dias uoy tahw aedi on sah nosrep retho eht nehw ynnuf adnik s'tI
Anyways (waits for you to figure out what that says, laughs after you finish), I'm sure you can figure out more clever uses for it, rather than just your status message and e-mail.
How to download-
Right click on the following link, and click, "Save Target As" or, "Save Link As" then save it into whichever directory you choose. If you simply click the link, you'll get some text with a lot of ?'s, and you won't even be able to read what's inside it. *Link*

Create Invisible Folders

I've known about this for quite some time now, although recently I saw a YouTube video showing how to do it, so I decided I could blog about it on my blog, and make it 'password protected' as well. :)

Here's a step by step process on how to do it-
  1. Go to your desktop (or any other random place), then right click and select New, then Folder.
  2. Double click on folder name, New Folder, then hold down the Alt key and press 255 on the number keypad (Alt+0160 works as well).
If this does not work, or produces a different character rather than " ", then push Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Character Map. I'm sure you can figure it out from there.
  3. Now we should have a folder with no name. Now we just need to remove the folder icon. To do this, right click on the folder, click Properties, Click the customize tab, Change Icon, then scroll to the right until you find some blank icons. They'll look like white squares. Select one of these, press OK, then OK again.
That's it! Now we have an invisible folder! If you want to go further and add a password protect option, then keep reading. Otherwise, feel free to leave a comment. :)
Before we continue, the password protection isn't really the most convenient thing ever, and usually the invisible folder is enough. The password protection is probably only good for journals
(which you can password protect with Microsoft Word anyways) or something you really aren't supposed to have. Again, I don't really recommend this, it's a pain and the invisible folder is enough.
  1. Create an invisible folder, as shown above. Next create a .zip of all the files you want password protected. Feel free to name it whatever you want.
  2. Create a Microsoft Word Document, and name it "Science Report" or something similar.
  3. Edit the Word Document, then go to Insert --> Object --> Create From File --> Browse
  4. Navigate to where you saved your .zip folder of all your Top Secret Files. Select Insert, then Click OK. Now you should see a blank word document with a Zip file inside of it.
  5. Next go to Tools, Options, and click on the "Security" Tab. Next type a password in the, "Password To Open" box. Click OK, Verify the Password, then select OK.
  6. Now Save the word document, and feel free to delete all the files you placed into the .zip folder, along with the original .zip (that's now embedded into the word document).
If you followed the instructions carefully, what we should have is an invisible folder that when opened, only shows a single word document named "Science Report.doc". Once you open it, it should ask for the set password to open it. After entering the password and opening the document, you should then find your zip file of whatever documents, pictures, or programs you don't want anyone else knowing about.
Also keep in mind you can place more than one zip file into the word document. This way you can have a separate zip folder for pictures, one for your journal, and so on and so forth.
Now, there are plenty of other ways to expand upon this further, but I'll let you get creative.

About the visitor explosion

Well, whatever caused that recent explosion of page loads and visitors is slowly starting to go back down to the average of 5 hits a day. I still haven't found out what caused this mass visitor phenomena, and by the looks of it I never will.
Regardless, the amount of visitors I get isn't really that important, seeing how this is simply a personal blog/journal and doesn't need a lot of hits. It is nice having a lot of people read what I write, especially when they comment, but it's not necessary.
Anyways, I've just finished reading Harry Potter 7, after staying up practically the entire night, and I must say it's probably the best book out of the lot. Since I'm not a jerk or anything, I guess I won't/can't really write about it on here.... unfortunately... but it's simply a great book. I wouldn't say it's the best book I've ever read, because that would be an utter lie. There are better out there that I've read, but not many.
Anyways, I'm going to go eat now. It's like 2:30 or something, and I still haven't eaten breakfast or lunch, so I'm pretty hungry...

Maybe I'll come back and edit this entry... write about it a bit more later. :)

I nearly died today.

Yes, it's true. I was *holds up thumb and index finger close together* THIS close to dieing today. It was fun as crap though. I was at mutual and was eh... pretty bored. I don't really want to go into a lot of detail with this one, mainly because I couldn't even describe it, we pulled a 540 in a little blue Geo over in our church parking lot. That was fun. We pulled some other scary crap as well. We nearly flipped the car a few times, and nearly crashed, and nearly got caught, and nearly'd a lot of things. It was seriously fun.
Another thing I've been wondering about lately is why I've been getting so much (more) traffic recently. Ever since Friday the average amount of page loads per day has gone up from 4 to 43 (That's 43 a DAY). I know it's not the same person, because the amount of different people who visit has gone up quite a bit as well. So maybe it's one person surfing through a ton of proxies, or something I wrote in Mr. Blogged's stupid 'Tagged' thing is bringing them all.
However, that can't be it, because all the referrals are coming from lifesriver.net, which I rarely advertise anywhere (I mean why would I? It's just got random junk on it). Unfortunately I don't have a counter on that page, so I have no idea where all the referrals are coming from. I've added one (about 20 minutes ago), so hopefully soon I'll know where all this unexpected traffic is coming from (or you could comment and post where you came from. :P). Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I'm just curious.
Remember, the end of July is coming up, so please submit your favorite videos to me to run for video of the month. Your video may appear on the front page! If it doesn't make it, feel free to submit it for next month's entry. There's some pretty good movies in already, but I would still love to see some of them you'd like to share with everyone (even if everyone's already seen it). The form to submit your videos can be found HERE.

I got tagged... I guess...

A few days ago I was told my Mr. Blogged that I was tagged... and I was supposed to fill this out and blog about it on my blog--

I just got tagged by "Mr. Blogged".
Three things I can't do:
1. Kill a squirrel
2. Teleport
3. Fly
Three things I can do:
1. Smell
2. Hear
3. Uh.... talk
Three things that scare me:
1. Spiders
2. Uhmm..... dieing alone?
3. Uhhhhh.... Getting raped?
Three things I love:
1. My girlfriend
2. Internet
3. Blogging
Three things I hate:
1. Stupid forwards saying I'll die.
2. Stupid people who can't read simple instructions then ask for help
3. You
So i like to tag:
1. Dan, (www.lessthandan.com)
2. Miranda, (www.mmarien.blogspot.com)
3. Lauren La Von, (www.laurenlavon.blogspot.com)

Alright, so I filled the thing out in order to make him stop bugging me to post it. I do, however, have quite a bit to say about it.
Forwards.
Everyone's gotten them. It says things like, "{INSERT SAD SOPPY LOVE STORY} {INSERT SOMEONE DYING} Now send this to 2 million people or {INSERT NAME} will kill you." Then for whatever reason, people forward them. The really sad part is that now these things aren't just going around in e-mails. Now people get them in YouTube comments, MSN conversations, and now through their own personal blogs.
People will believe anything.... for example, I've created a forward of my own. I want to try and get it around, so if you see it forward it to everyone. If you don't get it, you can start your own chain to all your contacts, and it would help greatly.

-----
Subject: Omg please do this. I don't want you to die.
-----

Oh noez! You is reading this! Now you can't stop, you have to keep reading for your own good.
My dog got this e-mail a few days back, and she didn't forward it.
Everything said in here came true.
Her head exploded on the 23rd of June, so now I need to hurry and forward this powerful e-mail to prevent me from suffering the same fate.

I don't want this to happen to you, I care about you all too much.
To prevent this from happening, forward this to 20 people or your head will explode in exactly 30 days.
-----

Just copy and paste that into a new e-mail, and send it out to all your contacts.
Let's see just how gullible people are. :)

New Layout

Alright, so this is what I've mainly been working on the last couple days. A new layout for my blog. It took me a while, and the idea/main part of it was from blogger-templates.blogspot.com, and I just tweaked it a little bit..... :P

Anyways, let me know what you guys think about it, and whether you liked this skin or the old one better. I have plenty more to write about, but it's currently about 2 o'clock in the morning, so maybe I'll sleep and come back later. :P

I'm not completely done yet, but as stated above I think I'm going to go to sleep...

*As a side note, if you find any bugs/glitches/mistakes on this new blog, please let me know.

Internet Update--

After finally resorting to a fresh re-install of windows I got my internet to work! As stubborn as I am, I couldn't stand being without my precious internet (yes I know I'm addicted. Shut up) any longer. I re-installed Windows XP Pro, installed the LinkSys (router/network card company) software, closed my eyes and said a silent prayer, then clicked on, "Internet Explorer."

Glad to say, I visited MSN.com!

So the good news is, I have internet again.

The bad news however, is.... a much longer list.

  1. All my settings are gone. After all, I did just re-install windows. :P
  2. My modified explorer.exe is gone. I'll have to re-do that entire thing (I would have backed it up, but if the problem was in the explorer itself, then I'd have backed up the problem).
  3. All my MSN/WLM Mods are gone. I'll have to re-modify those, re-install all the addons/plugins, and all that jazz. Plus, I forgot to back up my own MSN booter I made, seeing how it was a plugin like thing... :( I guess I'll re-write that...
  4. My custom theme is gone... probably should have backed that up as a .theme file (or whatever it is) but all well, I have all the files for it... so no major loss. :P
  5. My boot screen... that's gone as well. :P That'll be no biggie though. When my computer started up, I was wondering wtf, because I could hardly remember that standard boot screen. lol. All black and plain and ugly. :P
  6. My log on screen's back to the default too, but that's OK because I'm the only one who uses my computer, so nobody ever sees it anyways. :P
  7. A few things were just being gay and wouldn't backup. For instance, the hack I promised jade141180 wouldn't back up (don't ask why, they just wouldn't) along with a few pictures and just weird stuff.
  8. Now that I have everything backed up onto my 30GB iPod, I'll have to re-organize everything, and I'll have to import each song back into the iTunes Library. Importing the song's is going to be a pain, because (you can import by folder but) I'd have to import each album's folder separately. Too bad I can't click, "import folder" then select the G:\ Drive. That'd be easier.

Then one of the biggest bads about formating, is my bookmarks. I just couldn't figure out how to save the bookmarks off FireFox (well, one bad thing 'bout FireFox. It's a pain to figure out how to export your bookmarks). A bit after I started formatting, I was talking to a friend and then he told me how to export your FireFox bookmarks.
I was pretty pissed.
It doesn't matter too much though, I don't think there was anything too important in there...

So now that my internet's working, I'm free to work on hacks and fun programs more often, I'll be available on MSN for help/chat more often, visit messblack, check my e-mails, and blog at will.

With that last sentence said, the list of 'bads' doesn't seem all that terrible at all. It all makes up for it, and most of those are just settings, which can be replaced. ^_^

Ahhh... It feels good to be back. ^_^
